About the Department of Cultural Heritage Conservation
文化是一個國家軟實力的展現,文化資產是人類在時間的洪流中所創造出來的地景、聚落、建築、文物、工藝、社會習俗、儀式、產業等,它可能是地上的保存物,也可能是地下的與水下的考古發掘成果。它需要我們用心保存維護,面對未來創造新的價值。
國立雲林科技大學文化資產維護系是全國唯一文化資產綜合性系所,創立於1999年,教學與研究分為下列四項重點群;保存修護與科技、文化資源研究暨應用、建築襲產與聚落保存、文化行政與文資經營。本系的學生可以獲得跨領域的學習訓練,發展文化資產多面向的團隊解決方案。
數位時代決戰於內容產業,本系的同學從學習探索文化資產的符號、內涵、意義一系列的方法與過程開始,到學習如何呵護與修復珍貴的文化珍寶,最後蛻變為結合文化創意的文化魔法師。

Culture is a manifestation of a country ’s soft power, and cultural heritages are landscapes, settlements, architecture, cultural relics, crafts, social customs, ceremonies, industries, etc. created by mankind in the time period. It may be the result of underground and underwater archaeological excavations, which need us to preserve and maintain with care, and create new value in the future.
National Yunlin University of Science and Technology is the only comprehensive department of cultural heritages in the country. Founded in 1999, teaching and research are divided into the following four key groups: conservation and restoration preservation, applied cultural resource studies, Architecture Heritage and Settlement Conservation, Cultural Administration and Cultural Management. Students in this department can obtain cross-disciplinary learning and training, and develop multi-faceted team solutions for cultural assets.
The digital era is decisive in the content industry. Students in this department start from learning a series of methods and processes to explore the symbols, connotations, and meanings of cultural assets, to learn how to care for and repair precious cultural treasures, and finally turn into a cultural magician.

本系教授擁有豐富的實務資歷與學理的基礎,多受聘為中央及縣市政府的文資審議委員會委員,以及各種文化相關機構的顧問委員。此外承接政府及業界產學計畫,深受各界好評,近三年產學合作金額呈倍數成長。產官學緊密合作已成為科大的傳統,提供學生從實務中學習的多元機會,並提早熟悉未來就業市場。

The professors in this department have a wealth of practical qualifications and academic foundations, and are mostly employed as members of the cultural and resource review committees of the central and county governments, as well as advisors to various cultural related institutions. In addition, it has undertaken government and industry industry-academia projects, and it has been well received by various circles. The amount of industry-university cooperation in the past three years has grown exponentially. The close cooperation between industry, government and academia has become a tradition, providing students with multiple opportunities to learn from practice and familiarizing themselves with the future job market early.

本系有15名專任教師,博士學位來源包括德國、法國、比利時、西班牙、英國、美國、加拿大、日本及台灣,並有三位外籍教授進行全英語授課。學生有交換至法國、西班牙、日本、中國等姐妹學校的學習經驗,以及在英國、日本、德國、澳洲等國家的實務實習的培訓。

There are 15 full-time teachers in this department. The doctoral degree sources include Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan, and three foreign professors teach in English. Students have exchanged learning experience with sister schools in France, Spain, Japan, China, etc., as well as practical internship training in the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Australia and other countries.

文化資產的保存需要不同的專業領域提供所長,共同協作提供最佳的解決方案。本系提供文化資產保存與活化再利完整訓練,修業學生從實作練習的課程開始,搭配學理的課程討論,先全面性體驗文化資產的廣度、各種問題、以及基本研究的觀點與方法。從大三開始修習者可以選擇在專業領域持續深化學習,並且搭配業界實務實習與畢業實務專題。本系畢業生除習得專業領域的知識與解決方案外,並且藉由跨領域學習多元的分析問題觀點與團隊協作。

The preservation of cultural assets requires the provision of expertise in different fields of expertise, working together is the best solution. This department provides a complete training for preservation and activation of cultural assets. Students in the field start with practical exercises and discuss with academic courses. They first comprehensively experience the breadth of cultural assets, various issues, and basic research perspectives and methods. From the junior year onwards, students can choose to continue for deepen studies in the professional field, and combine the courses: Cultural Heritage Internship and Senior Design. In addition to acquiring knowledge and solutions in the professional field, graduates of this department also learn multiple analytical problem perspectives and teamwork through cross-field learning.
